Faith Kipygon Sub 4 Attempt, and Our Nike Launch

    By Caleb Sayler

Hello 605 running community, it's your resident Track nerd Caleb. Earlier today Faith Kipygon tried to become the first woman to break 4 minutes in the mile. The project was similar to Eliud Kipchoge's sub 2 marathon project, where he worked closely with Nike to do what many thought was completely impossible. Just like with that project Nike made gear and did research to help them create the perfect storm for it to happen. Faith, who is arguably the goat of mid distance running, was the perfect candidate having shattered the world record a few years ago with a 4:07 mile.

Faith along with 13 of the best pace makers money can buy (Grant Fisher, Cooper Teare, and Craig Engles to name a few) set off to shake the world at 1:00 p.m central today in Paris, France. The pacing early was perfect with Faith coming through the 1000 m mark at 2:30 and staying just under pace at 1200 m (3 of 4 laps). Unfortunately the hot early pace came into play in the last 400m with Faith eventually finishing in 4:06.42 collapsing to the ground after finishing.

While it was a bummer to see her come just short, it was so inspiring seeing her chase after it. The chase of getting better and proving others wrong is a big reason a lot of us run in the first place. It is always amazing to watch someone push themselves to the point of failure, and I have full belief a woman will break 4:00 in the near future.

Cleverly (not to pat our backs too much) we launched Nike as a brand today as well. Nike has always been on the cutting edge of running, whether it's sending a man under 2 hours in the marathon, or attempting to send a woman under 4 mins in the mile they are constantly innovating to create the best products to get you to your running goals. If you’ve been to our downtown location over the past month you may have noticed us slowly accumulating new Nike products. As of now we have the Pegasus, Vomero, Vaporfly, and Alphaply available along with some apparel options. This is just the beginning, we will be bringing in spikes, new models, and lots of clothing throughout the coming weeks and months.

We are thrilled to have such an Iconic brand that has powered the greats like Prefontaine, El Guerrouj, Sha'Carri Richardson, Athing Mu, Kipyegon, Fisher, Hocker, and Kipchoge to redefine what it means to be fast.Their shoes aren't just fast, they are also on the cutting edge of comfort and style. Like us Nike started small, slinging shoes made with a waffle iron from the back of a car, and have now grown to the company we all know today.

Our launch party is July 12th at our downtown location. The 12th is also our store's 11th birthday! It will be an awesome event with demo gear, birthday specials, giveaways, and more exciting things to be announced shortly! We’d love to see everyone of you there trying out Nike, and all of our other amazing products!

Thanks so much for all of your support,
